I am delighted to welcome you to our website, where I hope you will find much interest in matters relating to the Mark and Royal Ark Mariner Degrees in Leicestershire & Rutland.
All our brethren thoroughly enjoy their Mark and Royal Ark Mariner masonry and
after each meeting, go home with a big smile on their faces thinking about when they
will next be together again. We enjoy taking part in the ceremonies in the lodge room
and love to be active at the Festive Boards that follow, making them vibrant and
hugely enjoyable for the candidate and all who attend.
The Mark in Leicestershire and Rutland is not only known as the ‘friendly degree’,
but also the ‘family-friendly degree.’ You are encouraged to bring your partner, your
wife, your children, and your friends to take part in our Mark Family Social Events.
Whether it’s a quiz, bingo, a special meal, the Family Christmas lunch, a long
weekend in Benidorm or our annual family weekend away, our brethren come to join
the fun and have a wonderful time together.
I am humbled by the wonderful charitable efforts of our brethren which continue to
bring so much relief and happiness to so many masons and non-masons across
Leicestershire and Rutland, not to mention the ongoing kind and generous donations
from Lodges and their memberships, which are the bedrock of our charitable
disbursements.
I'm delighted to report that interest in both the Mark and RAM degrees, within the
province continues to be strong and I'm very pleased to see a new growth of
members with many more in the pipeline keen to join us.
The Mark Degree is the third largest in English Freemasonry and enjoys excellent
working relations with the Craft and Royal Arch. Just as in olden times, the Mark
should be viewed as an essential step in a Freemason's progression. Membership of
the Mark Degree is open to all Craft brethren who have been Master Masons for at
least four weeks. Full details of the Mark and the Royal Ark Mariner Degrees are
available in leaflet format on this website. In addition, you can browse both the latest
and all the back issues, of the Magic of the Mark magazine containing interesting
news on Mark and Royal Ark Mariner events and happenings in the Province.
Sincerely and fraternally
Andrew S. Lee
Provincial Grand Master
